We associate summer with travel, exploration, outdoor activities, and getting together with family and friends. As we are very much aware, this summer will be much different than summer's before. We are faced with restrictions and cautionary advisements due to the global pandemic.
Despite this, we have so much to be grateful for. We live in a beautiful city that offers a variety of fun things to do!
Here are 3 Fun Budget-Friendly Staycation Ideas:
1. Hike or Walk
Ottawa has so many amazing trails and walking paths to explore.
Here are some of our favourite places:
Rockliffe Rockeries - the fountains and the ruins are a beautiful sight to see! This is beautiful hidden gem in Ottawa, with bits of history you'll enjoy learning about.
Gatineau Park - what's a summer without exploring this expansive and beautiful park?
Macoun Marsh - you'll love the quaint trails and peek at nature's beauty this place offers.
2. Take a road trip to a nearby town and grab an Ice Cream!
We suggest Merickville, a charming little town located along the Rideau River. Many describe it as one of the cutest little towns in the province, with strong Euro-vibes.
Before you head back home, stop by at The Downtowne Ice Cream Shoppe for an ice cream or a gelato. ?
3. Virtual Entertainment
There are plenty of Ottawa-based virtual entertainment options to enjoy. Our favourite are the ones held by the National Arts Centre. Click on the link and it will direct you to the page featuring upcoming livestreams you can watch on your device.
